SHOP OPERATOR I (Temporary to March 31, 2018)

We are currently seeking  a SHOP OPERATOR to work on our Automation Assembly and Automation Torque & Test teams.  This is an ENTRY LEVEL position at our Manufacturing Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.  While this role is temporary, there is the possibility of extension based on the needs of the business.

Reporting to the Team Lead of the Automation Assembly department, this individual will be focused on the building, testing, and repairing of down-hole tools while using our Automation Assembly cells.  The successful applicant will do this while supporting our values of Operational Excellence, Innovation, and Customer Intimacy.

Primary Role Focus

Build, test, and repair down-hole tools. Reports to the Senior Coordinator (Automation) through Department Team Lead.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Load and unload automated assembly/ testing cells
  • Identify and resolve all process and equipment failure
  • Visually inspect product to ensure quality control
  • Manually assemble/disassemble and test product as required
  • Complete inspections and perform preventative maintenance to the equipment
  • Able to work various shifts and overtime as required
  • Ensure compliance with Packers Plus health and safety program

Experience and Skills

  • Read, write, and speak English; additional languages are an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Numeracy
  • Experience with threads and the makeup of tools is an asset
  • Experience in oil & gas is an asset

Education and Training

  • High School diploma or equivalency preferred

Physical, Business and Safety Requirements

  • Position is “safety sensitive” and subject to pre-employment medical testing and drug & alcohol testing
  • Subject to post-incident and reasonable cause drug & alcohol testing
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
