Product Line Manager - Multilateral Systems

Primary Role Focus

Liaise with internal departments as well as with customers to develop and commercialize multilateral systems.  Develop the strategy for multilateral systems in concert with geographical regions of the company and implement prioritization plans for filling gaps in technology.  Strive to manage the existing portfolio of products, while also developing and introducing new products.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage product life cycle for multilateral products/systems
  • As a subject matter expert for the product line, provide expertise and advice within the company and with customers. Manage product champions, and share subject matter knowledge with team members to mentor and develop their skillset
  • Communicate with key internal and external stakeholders to identify key features, benefits and applications for new tools/systems under the Multilateral Systems product line and based on their needs create a plan, in conjunction with other team members, to develop new product solutions
  • Take a leadership role to create a repeatable and reliable process to document, design, test, manufacture, field trial and commercialize new tools within the product line by working with a variety of internal and external groups
  • Seek new product opportunities by liasing with clients, consultants, third-party vendors, academics and others in the oil and gas industry
  • Present products to both small and large groups, speaking about the tool/system attributes including technical, economic and user-based details with sales representatives, operations and customers across all geographical regions of the company during deployment of new products
  • Collaborate and communicate across all departments of the company, including sales, operations, engineering, marketing, and manufacturing to meet company expectations and customer demands.
  • Act as a liaison individually and as part of a team to collect, analyze, summarize and disseminate engineering and operational information on new products, testing results and recent jobs
  • Oversees operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees on location for the first run of the tools.  Support operations during field trials; following up on work results
  • Promote the company and the product line through meetings, conferences, and technical papers (SPE papers)
  • Provide marketing with information for promoting products, and assist with the development of the marketing strategy.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends and competitors to make sure products stay competitive.
  • Work with management to develop long term product development and sales strategies for the company.
  • Carry out research to determine customer needs and expectations in order to develop new products.

Position Requirements

Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas with specific experience in multilateral systems applications
  • 4+ years of experience in product line management or product launch
  • Proficient working with engineering drawings and communicating with engineers
  • Strong ability to understand tool designs  
  • Communicate with confidence tool design information to various audiences
  • Advanced MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Approx. 25% travel will be required

Education and Training

  • Bachelor and/or Master Degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent education
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Physical, Business and Safety Requirements

    • Subject to pre-employment, post incident, random and reasonable cause drug and alcohol testing
  • Significant use of computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse
  • Ability to travel long durations on commercial airplanes
