Senior Network Analyst

Primary Role Focus

The Senior Network Analyst is a highly technically individual who is responsible to manage network performance, design and stability, while also providing effective support which minimizes downtime across a broad range of  Packers Plus systems and services. The individual can work in a team or independent of others, able to make conscientious decisions in support of business function. A team player who strives to better themselves and others by keeping informed on current and emerging technologies. Under guidance of the IT Technical Manager, will plan and implement projects in support of Packers Plus. This role reports to the IT Technical Manager.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintains primary responsibility for network design in support of the interconnected sites and services at Packers Plus
  • Proactive monitoring and maintenance of the network and infrastructure components to ensure performance, health, stability, continuity, and availability
  • Keeps system installation and configuration documentation is up to date; training other team members on deployed technologies
  • Ensures that target levels of security are adhered to across network and edge device
  • Practise and enforces security policy enforcement and risk mitigation
  • Performs advanced network troubleshooting alongside vendors and internal resources
  • Responsibility to react to any system outages to bring services back online in a timely manner
  • Perform network, system or application installations where required
  • Research trends in the IT industry and stay abreast of new developments and emerging technologies
  • Continually seeks to improve technical skills as it relates to all areas of the support; self-study, attends training, seminars, and conferences as appropriate
  • Monitors helpdesk system to ensure tickets and tasks are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner
  • Works with a team of technical specialists whose mission it is to support server infrastructure, storage, voice, network and data solutions
  • Helps deliver technical solutions to achieve desired business outcomes
  • Modifies procedures and recommends modifications of processes, and guidelines
  • Carries out complex project work as assigned by the Technical Services Manager
  • Participates in the formulation of the medium-term plans for Packers Plus IT
  • Acts as a mentor to more junior IT staff members
  • Shares 24x7 on-call support rotation

Position Requirements

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of experience supporting Enterprise computing
  • 5-10 years supporting network technologies and services  - TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, VoIP, Wireless
  • 5-10 years of experience administering and managing computer servers, server operating systems, server
  • Hands on experience with voice services and technology – PRI, SIP, IVR, QOS, Analogue, Voicemail and Monitoring
  • Advanced knowledge of routing protocols such as RIPv2, IGRP, BGP, OSPF, EGP, EIRGP
  • Operated a highly secure network, utilizing logical segmentation and layered security design techniques
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiar with Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama and Traps
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage a constantly changing workload
  • Excellent communication (listening, oral, and written) English language, and presentation skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong teamwork orientation
  • Energetic, adaptable, and highly personable

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology is an asset
  • ITIL knowledge is desirable
  • Preference given to someone with Cisco certifications - CCNA, CCIE or similar designations

Physical, Business and Safety Requirements

  • Compliance with Packers Plus Health and Safety Program
  • Subject to pre-employment, post incident, random and reasonable cause drug and alcohol testing
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk using a computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse
