Engineer - Research & Development

We are currently recruiting for the permanent full time role of Engineer – Research & Development.  If you thrive on challenging and varied projects, have solid communication skills and a supportive nature, then please read on!

The primary role focus is:

Responsible for supporting the design and development of completion tools for the oil & gas industry through advanced modeling and numerical simulation using FEA and CFD tools.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Provide engineering design support as required.

Modeling and numerical simulation with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools

Characterization and analysis of engineered materials, components, and mechanical assemblies

Develop tools, calculators, methods, and standards to support engineering design

Report findings and learnings to internal team members and key stakeholders

2D and 3D parametric modeling, development of models, and drawings, and specifications

Develop test apparatus, fixtures, instrumentation, and methods for testing when required

Support the RTD Edmonton quality system including ensuring compliance to API Q1

Ensure compliance with Packers Plus Health and Safety program

 

Experience and Skills

Experience in the oil & gas industry would be an asset

Research and test experience

Simulation and modeling experience

 

Education and Training

Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or other related field) or equivalent experience

APEGA/ASET membership is considered an asset

Mechanical aptitude

Leveraging Technology

Technical Knowledge

Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Proficient with 3D CAD tools (Solidworks and EPDM)

Proficient with FEA software (ABAQUS, Solidworks Simulation)

Proficient with CFD software (Star-CCM+)

 

 

Physical and Safety Requirements

Subject to post-incident and reasonable-cause drug & alcohol testing

Position is Safety Sensitive and subject to a pre-employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol testing
