Infrastructure Analyst

Primary Role Focus           

The Infrastructure Analyst is a technically skilled individual responsible for managing computer system health and stability. The individual can work in a team or independent of others, able to make conscientious decisions in support of business function. A team player who strives to better themselves and others by keeping informed on current and emerging technologies. Under guidance of the IT Technical Manager, will plan and implement projects in support of Packers Plus.  This position reports to the IT Technical Manager.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

As a member of the Infrastructure Team:

  • Manage new and existing infrastructure, including network, storage, security, and virtualization platforms
  • Proactive monitoring and maintenance of infrastructure components to ensure health, stability, continuity, and availability
  • System administration of active directory, cloud service, Citrix, and other application stacks within the Packers environment
  • Ensure target levels of security are met within application and infrastructure stacks, and practise and enforce security policy and risk management
  • Responsibility to react to any system outages to bring services back online in a timely manner
  • Provides after-hours support where needed and within reason
  • Monitors helpdesk system to ensure tickets and tasks are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner
  • Perform system or application installations where required, conforming to policies including change management and documentation
  • Ensure team members are cross-training on new technologies 
  • Keep current with emerging technologies and present opportunities to Packers where appropriate
  • Practice self-improvement, and participate in training when required 

Experience and Skills

  • 4+ years in IT/technical roles. 2+ years in an infrastructure position
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, oral, and written)
  • Possess outstanding interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to adapt/manage a constantly changing workload
  • Energetic, adaptable and highly personable.
  • Experience with middleware management products like SCCM and SCOM
  • Exposure to application delivery methods such as Citrix Xenapp or XenDesktop
  • Understands or has managed cloud compute and/or SAAS technology offerings such as Office 365, Azure and AWS
  • Previous Oil and Gas experience is considered an asset
  • Experience managing VMware in a small to mid-sized environment
  • Experience managing technology components including networks, data center hardware, software (system, O/S, middleware, office automation, application)
  • Working knowledge of server operating systems, tools and utilities, and server data backup and restore technologies
  • Solid understanding of current IT technologies 
  • Understands Storage Management concepts. Exposure to EMC and Nimble storage platforms is considered an asset 
  • Ability to “dive in” and learn a new technology when required

Educational and Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology and/or security designation or equivalent experience
  • Technical certifications in Citrix, Vmware, Microsoft software or cloud services
  • ITIL Foundations desirable
