Global Product Line Champion - Sand Management

Primary Role Focus

The Global Product Line Champion (GPLC) is the Packers Plus subject matter expert in regards to the assigned product or system. They serve as the primary contact both internally and externally and are also responsible for playing a key role in the shaping of this aspect of the business strategy by providing input and technical guidance. The GPLC is responsible for building a high level network of customers and potential customers, understands their needs, their strategic direction and is able to connect at a business level and at a technical level. In the case of new products, this position is accountable for the on time launch of a high quality, commercially viable product. The GPLC reports to the Product Line Manager.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Acts as subject matter expert for the assigned product line or system to provide expertise and advice within the company and with customers.
  • Understands the technical aspects of the product as well as its application and shares this knowledge with team members to mentor and develop their skillset.
  • Connect with key internal and external stakeholders to identify key features, benefits and applications for the Sand Management product line and based on their needs create a plan, in conjunction with other team members, to develop new product solutions.
  • Take a leadership role in a multi-stakeholder team to create a repeatable and reliable process to document, design, test, manufacture, field trial and commercialize Sand Management by working with a variety of internal and external groups
  • Has a deep level of understanding of the customers and potential customers for the product. Builds relationships with high level technical contacts within the client organization or consultants working for the customer. Presents at Technical conferences and events. Builds and maintains a strong network of contacts.
  • Present products to both small and large groups, speaking about the product line’s attributes including technical, economic and user-based details with sales representatives, operations and customers across all geographical regions of the company during deployment of new products
  • In the case of new products, is the primary point of contact and project management lead from product inception to full commercialization. Solicits feedback from the regions and from potential customers and communicates this to the design team. Ensures the appropriate stakeholders, such as regional operations, technical training and marketing are engaged at the appropriate time in the project schedule in order to ensure efficient product launch.
  • Provides input into the global strategy for the assigned product. Provide technical assistance when needed to support the Sales group to ensure the product is a commercial success.
  • Provide technical input for the new products, tool development and commercialization initiatives
  • Seek out new opportunities by meeting with consultants, third-party vendors, academics and others in the oil and gas industry to develop new products
  • Track relevant data, financial information and provide reporting for new products throughout the life cycle
  • Act as a liaison individually and as part of a team to collect, analyze, summarize and disseminate engineering and operational information on new products, testing results and recent jobs
  • Be available on location to support operations during field trials
  • Promote the company and the new product line through meetings, conferences, and technical papers (SPE papers)


Position Requirements

Experience and Skills

  • 10 years + experience with down hole tools
  • 3 years + experience in deep water completions. Has seen a project through from start to finish
  • High level of knowledge of sand control completion engineering and design
  • Understanding of Product Line Management fundamentals
  • Operator experience is a plus
  • Travel international/domestically up to 30%
  • Ability to read and understand design drawings

Education and Training

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or other related field) required, Masters is preferred
