Machine Shop Coordinator

We are currently searching for a Machine Shop Coordinator for our World Class Rapid Tool & Development Centre.  Reporting to the Quality Assurance Testing Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring prototype or specialty parts are produced from our cutting edge designs, providing manufacturing feedback and problem solving with our Design Engineers and Technologists.

The role is primarily shop-based, but coordinator duties and computer based order management will bring you in the office from time to time. Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule timely and accurate completion of all parts (24 – 48 hour turn around)
  • Ensure machinists have knowledge and training to run the CMM and Optical measurement machine (MicroVu)
  • Ensure compliance to API-Q1 procedures, including maintenance and calibrations
  • Ensure NCR system is followed and is maintained correctly
  • Ensure machinists are trained on the latest tooling and machining techniques
  • Coordinates and monitors equipment maintenance
  • Purchase shop equipment and tooling as required
  • Ensure employees are compliant with Packers Plus Health & Safety Program 

Experience and Skills

  • Experience with Mazak Lathe and Mazak programming is required
  • Experience running a variety of machines and measuring equipment
  • Knowledge of machining practices and procedures
  • Proficiency with reading and understanding machining blueprints
  • Experience in a supervisory role an asset
  • Mechanical Aptitude

Education and Training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Journeyman or Red Seal Machinist or Technologist
  • Forklift Training is an asset
  • First Aid Certification is an asset

Physical and Safety Requirements

  • Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Subject to post-incident and reasonable-cause drug & alcohol testing
  • Position is Safety Sensitive and subject to a pre-employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol testing
  • Some use of computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse
