Machinist / Programmer (Evening Shift)

Primary Role Focus

The Programmer/Machinist is responsible for producing prototype and production parts as required. This role will be working the evening shift.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Setup and machine parts per setup instructions and part drawings
  • Read engineering drawings and interpret work instructions for manufacturing machines
  • Review all incoming orders, identify tooling required, programs for CNC equipment, and create routings for machines.
  • Verify existing programs are to current revision levels for new orders.
  • Monitor tooling in shop and insure stock levels are adequate.
  • Operate and program CNC machine
  • Read,  and follow job router
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all parts
  • Perform 100%  QA checks, including dimensional inspection of parts and recording any deviations
  • Communicate machining best practices to designers
  • Maintain and calibrate precision measuring equipment
  • Assist with any repairs or maintenance of equipment
  • Operate jib crane and forklift
  • Maintain cleanliness of work space and shop

 

Position Requirements

Experience and Skills

  • 5 years of machine operation required
  • Minimum of  2 years of CNC programming
  • Familiar with Fanuc and Mazatrol controls required
  • Manual lathe and mill experience
  • Experience running a variety of machines and measuring equipment is an asset
  • Proficiency with reading and understanding machining blueprints
  • Solid knowledge of machining practices and procedures

Education and Training

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Forklift training required
  • First aid certification

Physical, Business and Safety Requirements

  • Compliance with Packers Plus Health and Safety Program
  • Able to lift 50lbs
  • Shift work, including weekends and on call
  • Safety Sensitive
    • Subject to pre-employment medical assessment
    • Subject to pre-employment, post incident, random and reasonable cause drug and alcohol testing
