IT Business Relationship Manager

Primary Role Focus

The Business Relationship Manager is accountable for liaising with other Business Relationship Managers and IT Infrastructure and Support for the identification, analysis, design and delivery of business solutions. The primary focus of this position is to establish and maintain a strategic partnership between the Business stakeholders and Information Technology teams. The intended result is in services and solutions which are in direct alignment with the business objectives and goals. This role reports to the Senior BT Business Relationship Manager

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • This role’s success will be predicated on establishing strong working relationships with key stakeholders throughout the company
  • Work with Business Partners to facilitate development of solutions based upon requirements, impacted business processes and ensure solutions meet the needs of the Business Partner
  • This role is required to perform a significant level of planning, analysis and requirements capture across diverse stakeholders with dynamic business requirements and priorities
  • Apply advanced business analysis, IT and problem-solving skills to align Business Partner needs to the identification and delivery of technology solutions
  • Project management - lead, manage and govern project planning and project execution activities as well as govern external resources in these capacities as required
  • Facilitate the IT planning and strategy process to support the goals and objectives of the Packers Plus business plan
  • Support the development of an IT strategic plan ensuring business partners, IT staff and service providers are engaged in the planning process and development of the performance metrics to measure success
  • Liaise closely with Business Partners to identify business challenges and opportunities and develop joint business and IT plans
  • Work with the key Business Partners, internal IT staff and end user representatives to understand the issues and priorities regarding the needs for IT services. Identify any barriers, and solution towards their removal, including any necessary changes in structures and systems
  • Provide guidance/overview of structure and operation for Packers Plus through the IT leadership
  • Provide thought leadership for continuous improvement, facilitate the setting for teamwork and performance, and foster continuous learning
  • Correlate business value and priorities to planning activities and goal-setting

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience including progressive people leadership accountabilities, ideally with 10 years in IT/technical roles and 4-5 years in business or non-IT function roles
  • Proven track record in establishing credible and effective working relationships with customer business areas
  • Business analysis – experience identifying, aggregating and presenting business requirements for services and solutions
  • Project management – experience with planning and executing projects
  • Experience in IT governance, portfolio management and/or business case development is an asset
  • Significant management experience, including management of financial and human resources
  • Excellent organizational change management skills and knowledge
  • Good partnership building and facilitation skills to help promote harmonious working relationship between business and IT; including conflict resolution and consensus building
  • Strong communication skills in effective listening, oral and written communication, as well as presentations
  • Building collaborative relationships that span functional and organizational lines
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365
  • Seasoned understanding with trend analysis, report development, general IT principles including IM and IS
  • Competent in the art and science of negotiation in order to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Understanding of general IT principles including information management, Infrastructure and Service Delivery

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in IT, Business and/or equivalent work experience
  • ITIL Foundations is desirable
  • BRM Institute certification is desirable
  • Business analysis training and/or certifications ie. CBAP
  • Project management training and/or certifications ie. PMP
  • Organizational change management training and/or certifications ie. PROSCI
